What Was I Thinking? Glass Slipper Challenge 2015

A friend of mine wanted to run the Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon for her 40th Birthday for 2015! I said no way! I'm a 5k runner! I have no interest in running 13.1 miles. I'll do the 10k I told her, but not the 1/2 Marathon!

She kept on and kept on. I looked into doing this run and saw they offered the Glass Slipper Challenge! So I gave her a call and said "If we are going to do this 1/2 Marathon together, we are going to go all out and we are doing the Glass Slipper Challenge!" She said, "Are you crazy! I've been begging to get you to do just a 1/2 Marathon and now you want to do the challenge!"

YES! If I'm going to spend all this money on a run, we are doing this challenge! I want those medals!

(2014 Glass Slipper Challenge Medals)

So now I'm registered for the Glass Slipper Challenge! What does the this entail? On Saturday, you run a 10k. If you complete it, you get a Enchanted Medal. Then on Sunday, you run the Princess Half Marathon. If you complete it, you get your Princess Medal AND a Glass Slipper Challenge Medal!

I'm really excited, but I now that it's training time, I'm think...."WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!"

I guess I was thinking I can run 19.3 miles in 2 days and I'm crazy! I've never done a race that is more than 3.1 miles (5k) and I don't run more than 3 miles when I train. This is going to be hard for me, but I know I can do it!

My biggest stress over this race is that you only have 3.5 hours to complete the half marathon. So I wonder if I can complete it! I'm getting a lot of encouragement and positivity from all my friends and family that I can do this!

It's November now and the race is Feb 19-22!

I've registered my kids also for this weekend!

My son is 6 and he's running the kids 1 mile! My daughter is 14 and she's running the Princess 5k!

My son and daughter are running on Feb. 20th. I'll run on the 21st and 22nd! A fun filled weekend at Disney just doing runs! Then offer to do the real fun!

Stay tuned to my blog and keep tabs on my runs! I'm always posting about my runs or great running products!

I'm still questioning my sanity on this race!

The Color Run - Myrtle Beach, SC

The Color Run 5k
Myrtle Beach, SC
November 1, 2014

Unfortunetly, I was unable to attend The Color Run. I did contact them and they were great and understanding and mailed me my swag bag.

I had planned to attend and was very excited about doing my 2nd Color Run. However, unforeseen things happen and I wasnt able to attend.

One thing I love about The Color Run is their after party! Its the best! If you havent ran with this company, find a race and run!!

Also, they have great customer service. Since I was unable to attend, I emailed them directly and had a reply within 20 minutes! I've not run into anyone else that replies back so fast!

Anyway, if you ever register for a race and your unable to attend, contact the company and request your seag! After all, you did pay for it!

The Color Run does not offer refunds, which is normal for most companies, but they will give you your swag!

The After Party was Jamming!!

Brie and I!! Brie stuck with me the whole time, which was really nice. Usually I run alone and she goes off and waits at the finish line for me. It was really nice to have her with me the whole time! Not to many years left before she goes off to college!

I would highly recommend the Electric Run to my fellow runners! It was a blast!

Be aware that there is a $5 packet pick up fee for the race day. As it was explained to me, they have to staff more people for race day pick up packets. You can come the day before and pick up for free, but race day its $5. This covers the extra man power needed. I wasnt very happy about that since its not stated on their website or when you register. I've never been to a race that charges. Its discouraging to runners like myself that travel 3 hours to run.

Aside from that, this race was AWESOME! Will I do it again? Oh yeah! This is by far the best glow run and its totally worth the drive and money to participate! There is so many exciting "Lands" to visit! I cant even imagine how much it costs to put this event on! It was a blast!

Rockstar energy drinks is a sponsor and was giving away drinks. Brie took home 5 drinks and I ended up with 3. We also each got 1 before the race!

Find out when the Electric Run will be in your area an sign up! You wont regret it!

Running to Weight Loss

Running to Weight Loss

This is me May 2013(Right) and me May 2014 (Left)!
Running has helped me change my body!

Last year, I didn't think I was that over weight. NO BODY TOLD ME! We went to Disney World for The Summit cheerleading competition! When I saw this picture I was so embarrassed of myself! I couldn't believe how fat I was! YES, I was fat!

This is Tabatha (a personal trainer), Megan (a personal trainer), and myself (not a personal trainer). All of us are competitive cheerleading coaches! This is us at Disney Animal Kingdom! May 2013

 Clean and Colored Pictures

In August, I saw a post on Facebook for "Run for the Colors" 5k run in Beaufort sponsored by Carteret General Hospital. I said to Megan that I really wanted to do this race! She said, "Ok, lets do this!". Then I was telling my dad about it and he said he would do it. Of course my daughter also wanted to do it. Also, one of our cheer moms also ran too!

I started training by doing just 1 mile as many days as I could. I had shin splints so bad that I would spend the rest of the day laying on the couch with ice packs on my legs! I got up to 2 miles before the race.

The day of the race came (Sept 21st) and it was time for the race! My dad was the best! He stuck with me and kept motivating me the whole time and talking to me! I couldn't have finished that race without him! I finished my first 5k with my dad by my side! We finished at 42.30 minutes!

Almost to the finish line and pushing myself hard!

This race jump started me into racing! I don't like to train to run. I train because I sign up for runs that I like to do! I love doing color, glow and now mud runs! I'm a bit of a selfish running. I don't sign up for runs just to do them. I need to have something involved in the run, like a color run!

Starting in January 2014, I got serious about my weight loss. I use to weigh 128 lbs in high school. I'll never see that on the scale again, but my goal weight is a healthy 150 lbs. I'm 33 and I have 2 kids! Being that thin is not in my future! However, a realistic goal of 150 lbs is obtainable and my doctor agrees!

I started my running or walking of 3 miles in January. This is me and my race partner, Megan at our first run of the year in April. I can tell a BIG difference in my size from last year! I'm a lot smaller than I use to be!

Sept 2014 (left) and Sept 2013 (right)

I'm not super skinny, but I'm smaller than last year and a lot more confident in myself! I'm actually wearing compression shorts now!!!

I'm down 21.2 lbs since January this year! It's been a slow process but I'm getting to were I want to be! Sure its taken 9 months to drop 20 lbs, but my goal is to be down to 150 by next summer. I know I can do it!

I hope my story inspires you to get moving! Even if you just walk every few days for just a short distance, you're doing better than the person sitting on their couch doing nothing! Set realistic goals for yourself!
